5 Awesome Keys to Staying Motivated

Motivation is one of the key factors needed to master living a fit and healthy lifestyle.

A question I get a lot is how do I stay motivated day after day to go to the gym, eat clean and push even harder day after day?

Truth is, it’s easy at times but more often than not it gets tough!

Everyone’s different but I am a routine person and luckily since it is my passion it makes it that much easier.

But there are some things that I tell people and tell myself daily as a reminder to just keep on going…

Think of why you started living like this in the first place

What was the reason you started working out and eating clean? Was it a personal choice or did someone or something inspire you?

What was that final moment when you decided to go big or go home?

A lot of people are motivated by a certain goal such as an event, a bad wardrobe day or just sick of feeling out of shape. But usually what ends up happening the most is when that goal has been reached, so has their will power.

This is when you need to dig into that memory box and find that spark that got you going since day one and STICK TO IT!

Find an inspirational quote or saying that you can repeat to yourself over and over when you feel like giving up. My personal favourite? You got this!

Switch it Up

Make sure you’re not doing the same workouts day after day- not only will that cause you to plateau but will also drive you insane with boredom.

If you do split days- switch up the order, change the exercises in each day, add in some supersets or better yet some HIIT!

Whatever it is – make it challenging and enjoyable so you’ll be looking forward to hitting it just as hard next time.

Make a Vision Board

Grab all of your favourite fitness magazines and cut out those bodies you know you want. Make that your goal, inspiration and motivation to keep going.

No goal is impossible- the killer set of abs on Jamie Eason or biceps on Nicole Wilkins? EASY- YOU GOT THIS!

MUSIC!

Make sure you have multiple playlists to choose from! Music is key to a sweat drenching workout so make sure to have different playlists for different workouts.

Pick music that pumps you up! That pushes you to do that extra rep or add on that extra 5 minutes to your cardio!

PLAN EVERYTHING

Being too prepared is never an option when it comes to your healthy lifestyle.

When it comes to training it’s best to have your plan with you or in your mind of what you’ll be doing the moment you get there.

If you bring your workout journal with you, it makes it that much harder to slack off. It’s the exact same with nutrition.

Always have healthy snacks and meals on hand at all times- you never want to be stuck in a situation where you don’t have healthy food! Remember, you fail to plan- you plan to fail!

Do What You Love

The majority of time you are training for yourself because it makes you happy, makes you feel strong, empowered and unstoppable.

Keep doing it. If this is your passion and if you want it bad enough then you’ll always make training and clean eating your top priority. No excuses.

If it were easy- everybody would be in shape!

Cool post Sarah!  These are some awesome tips for staying motivated.  For me I find that having goals is a great way to stay motivated.

Every time I hit the gym I am trying to push my limits and get one step closer to achieving the goals I have set for myself.
